A lot has changed at this school and they hope to have this building ready by the start of the school year. Construction is happening right now at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School continuing months after a December tragedy. On December 9th flammable gases ignited causing a fire that heavily damaged the building and seriously injured five people including three children and two adults. Also, the fire caused grades 3 through 8 to be moved off campus last school year. With this building remodel everyone will be back on the same campus this coming school year. For the people that work here, these repairs help restore a sense of togetherness.
“It’s a really peaceful feeling knowing that we’re going to have a great building but also we’re going to be back on one campus,” said St. Vincent de Paul Director of Advancement Mindy Maghupoy. As for the survivors, a school official says they’re all out of the hospital but many are still dealing with some lingering physical and emotional trauma from that incident. Enrollment is also underway for the upcoming school year. They hope to move into the new building sometime in August.
