UPDATE (4/8) — The 4-year-old girl who was hit by a car while skateboarding has been released from the hospital.

Emily Evans was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday after she was hit by a car at the Crossings at Pine Brook apartment complex on Azalea Road.

Her father has started a fundraiser to help his family “stay afloat” at this time.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – The 4-year-old girl who was hit by a car while skateboarding is still recovering in the hospital.

Emily Evans is now out of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, or PICU, and in a regular hospital room. This is an improvement, but her father tells News 5, there’s still a ways to go.

She is recovering, and acting like a normal kid. But because her injuries were so severe, it may be a while before she can go home. Emily was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday after she was hit by a car at the Crossings at Pine Brook apartment complex on Azalea Road.

Her dad tells News 5 she was riding a skateboard in the parking lot and the driver didn’t see her. She was run over by two car tires. She has a broken arm, her liver and lungs were injured, and her dad says he’s relieved she’s alive.

“She’s 25 pounds, she’s not big at all. I can’t believe she survived. She has hung in there and is doing incredibly well. She’s just made a miraculous recovery. It’s amazing,” said Justin Evans.

Her father has started a fundraiser to help his family “stay afloat” at this time.
