Three former Mobile BayBears have been selected to play in the Major League All-Star Game.
Pitcher Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals and first baseman Paul Goldschmidt of the Arizona Diamondbacks will represent the National League. Cleveland pitcher Trevor Bauer will represent the American League.
This is Scherzer’s sixth consecutive All-Star Game selection. The three-time Cy Young Award winner played for the BayBears in 2007.
Goldschmidt, who played in Mobile in 2011, will be making his sixth All-Star Game appearance.
Bauer played in Mobile in 2011 and 2012. He will be making his All Star Game debut. He is currently sixth in the American League with a 2.45 ERA.
The All-Star Game will be played at Washington’s Nationals Park Tuesday, July 18.
