THEODORE, Ala. (WKRG) —  A Mobile County murder suspect is now in jail months after police say he stabbed his girlfriend to death. The suspect spent several months in a rehabilitation hospital in Louisiana after he was severely beaten by the girlfriend’s brother in the incident back in May.

According to Mobile Police, 44-year-old Stephen Davis Jr. was released from the rehab hospital and booked into Jefferson Parish Correctional Center Friday, September 7th.

Davis was injured during the incident on May 28, after police say he attacked and fatally stabbed 49-year-old Carol Dowdlan multiple times. Police say Dowdlan was Davis’ girlfriend. Dowdlan’s brother stabbed and knocked out Davis to stop the attack, according to MPD.

Both Davis and Dowdlan were transported to the hospital. Dowdlan died as a result of her injuries.
