Racially charged online post has midtown Mobile resident on high alert

Mobile County

A Craigslist posting for an estate sale in midtown Mobile was posted by someone other than the resident.

The posting says, “No negroes allowed.”  Neither the homeowner or the current resident had anything to do with the racial slur or the estate sale.  Alan, the man who lives at the alleged location of this estate sale but doesn’t want to share his full name, learned of it when the landlord contacted him.

Alan said, “It was just a big surprise to me, it’s amazing to me that someone would go to that much trouble.”

Alan has since reported the false posting to Craigslist which has taken it down.  He also filed a police report.  While both Alan and the landlord believe they know who is behind the malicious posting, they’re allowing police to investigate and gather evidence.

In the meantime, Alan is carrying his handgun with him at his home on Dauphin Street constantly.   “At this point for me, it’s a concern for my family’s safety.”
