MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – Kashton Broughton was the first baby born in Mobile in 2019. He was born at Providence Hospital just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
He wasn’t due until Jan. 16. His mother was about to head to the Moonpie Drop downtown when her water broke.
Even though Kashton was two weeks early, his family happily looked at a healthy baby boy when News 5 spoke with them Wednesday afternoon.
“Just looking at a part of me, you know? It’s just, man, I don’t know, it’s hard to describe it for real,” said Vincent Broughton, the boy’s father.
Meanwhile, Vincent’s sister also had a baby New Year’s Day as Thomas Hospital across the bay. That baby was born two weeks early as well.
