UPDATE: Mobile Police say son in custody after shooting father on Repoll Road

UPDATE (11/29/20 5:49 PM) — Mobile Police say 34-year-old James Downey was arrested for the shooting of his father on Repoll Rd.

Police say a witness claims to have heard an explosion-like sound and she saw the victim fall to the ground. She continued that Downey was standing in the hallway with a shotgun.

According to MPD, the victim was life-flighted to the hospital for life-threatening injuries. Downey left the scene before officers arrived.

Officers say they found a large amount of marijuana in plain sight and there were multiple rifles and a handgun confiscated. When officers returned to the scene at 1:30 p.m. a search warrant was executed. But upon Downey’s return to the scene, he was taken into custody.

UPDATE — The adult man who was shot was shot in the head and life flighted to University.

Mobile Police department confirms one person is in custody for the shooting.
