MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A mother accused of killing her toddler in 2015 has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in order to avoid a harsher sentence.
Summer Everett pleaded guilty to aggravated child abuse Wednesday afternoon in the death of Dakota Burke Everett.
Summer Everett had been charged with murder in connection with the case. She was sentenced to 20 years on the aggravated child abuse charge.
An autopsy showed Dakota was beaten, burned and had dozens of broken bones.
