Mobile man convicted of murder in deadly DUI crash sentenced to life in prison

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A convicted murderer has been sentenced to life in prison. 

Melvin Martin was found guilty of driving drunk and killing Meredith Baxley in 2017. 

Marvin was driving 60 miles per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone on Azalea Road in Mobile when he hit Baxley who was riding a motorized scooter.

Martin’s alcohol level was measured at .212% three hours after the crash.
