Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson and Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson talk about what they expect at the Farnborough Airshow this week. We talked with them before dawn Sunday morning. It was midday in England. Stimpson, Hudson and the Alabama delegation arrived yesterday. Stimpson says their job this week is to convince aerospace business leaders that now is the time to come to Mobile.
“Typically the groundwork has been laid from previous trips. As circumstances change, you get to the trigger point where somebody says ‘now let’s do this.’ Case in point would be with the addition of the FAL that’s going to be built with Bombardier it gives people the courage they’ll be supporting two different airplanes so now let’s make the investment,” said Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson. Mobile County Commissioner Connie Hudson said one of their goals is to establish relationships that have yet to exist. She says these visits plant seeds that may sprout into new jobs years down the road.
