Meredith Simmerman has two full-time jobs. One is as a therapist at four local high schools. The other as the founder of Reney’s Honey Butter. Her second “job” happened by accident.
Simmerman loves to cook and started experimenting after picking too many blackberries. She made cobblers, pies, even Blackberry barbeque sauce, then cream cheese. The cream cheese then turned into a honey butter. She let her friends and family taste it, and they loved it. From there, she perfected the honey butter and started including seasonal flavors. Every flavor is made by scratch and does not include sugar.
“Right now I have blackberry, blueberry, strawberry, and cinnamon. In the Fall, I have pumpkin, toffee, pumpkin and peach, and at Christmas, I have peppermint and chocolate, “Simmerman said. She also makes a plain Honey Butter flavor.
Simmerman likes to dream about her Reney’s Honey Butter in big stores such as Walmart, Target, and Starbucks, but for now, she is enjoying having it on local store shelves. It brings her happiness to know that customers love it! She works hard in her commercial kitchen making batches at night and on the weekends.
“I want for my butter to connect people. You would give it as a gift or housewarming present, or open a jar on Saturday morning as you have homemade biscuits and all sit around the table and share life together,” Simmerman said.
