MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A traffic stop in Mobile landed a man behind bars accused of trafficking stolen identities, and it’s not the first time he’s been accused of this type of crime.
Mobile Police pulled over a truck on I-10 at Highway 90 Thursday night because the truck had an Arizona tag that was wanted.
Inside the truck, police said they found items used to commit financial crimes.
Harutyun Sukiasyan was arrested on charges that include trafficking stolen identities, encoded data fraud, and fraudulent use of a credit card. He was booked into Metro Jail Friday at around 2:00 a.m.
A woman in the truck was also arrested on a probation violation.
Sukiasyan lists a home address in California, according to the jail website.
Last August, Sukiasyan and another California man were arrested on similar charges in Panama City Beach. In that arrest, police said they found more than 100 stolen credit cards.
Friday afternoon, MPD said it could not provide additional details on the items found during Thursday’s traffic stop because the investigation was still in the early stages.
