Mobile, AL (WKRG)–
This is always a big event in Mobile every year. Dauphin Street was jam-packed with people as part of the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. Thousands of people were there. Organizers hoped to raise somewhere in the range of $275,000. Each person here has a story connected to cancer and the fight against the illness.
“I do it because it’s like my way of connecting but it’s also my way of showing I have control of what’s going on with me. Cancer makes you feel out of control because everyone else is controlling your life and I think you need to do things that make you know ‘I got this’ I decide what I do where I go what happens with me,” said three-time cancer survivor Gwen Jones. News 5’s Rose Ann Haven was the MC for today’s event. News 5 is a proud media sponsor of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
