Joquincy McCord, 27, a man at the center of a murder investigation and a multi-state Amber Alert, was booked in the Jackson County, Mississippi jail hours after he surrendered to police in Mobile.
McCord is charged with murder and domestic violence for the death of his estranged wife in Pascagoula.
An Amber Alert was issued Tuesday night for the couple’s 2-year-old daughter, Genisis, who authorities believe McCord took after murdering her mother. McCord drove a gold Ford Fusion, which was identified in the Amber Alert, to a Chevron gas station at Grelot Road and University Boulevard in West Mobile. McCord called authorities and said he wanted to surrender, according to a clerk at the gas station.
Mobile police took McCord into custody at the gas station. The child was found safe, though it is unclear whether the child was with McCord at the gas station.
