Mobile County

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Visitation and funeral arrangements have been set for 15-year-old Jakory Lavelle Smith, who was shot and killed at the Carondolet Apartments on Christmas Eve.

Smith was a freshman at Baker High School, on the football team and part of the school’s JROTC program. His mother Marie tells News 5 he’s one of 15 children, and he loved being around his friends and siblings and going to church.

“My son was taken from me for no reasons at all,” his mother said.  It’s described as a celebration of life service.  Public visitation for Smith will be held Friday, Dec. 28 from 1-6 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home. On Saturday, there will be a viewing from 11 a.m. – 12:50 p.m. at Ark Safety Church, with a service to follow at 1:00.
