Friends are remembering the life of a man shot to death over the weekend in the Trinity Gardens area. 30-year-old Jamal Chambers was killed late Friday night on Muriel Avenue. Friends say he was a player for a semi-pro football team the Mobile Generals. They describe him as someone who loved sports, competition and would help the community wherever he could.
“Jamal was an awesome young man when I say he was one of the kindest people you ever met in your life. He came to practice with a willing attitude, a smile, unbelievable, great father to his daughter, brought his daughter to practice, I can’t even explain it, just a great guy,” said Mobile Generals Owner Jerome James.
Other football players on the Mobile Generals continued to practice this weekend with heavy hearts. They plan on creating a special decal for their helmets with Chambers’ number 90 that will be their tribute to him for the rest of the season.
