MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — It’s back to school for hundreds of Gulf Coast students as several schools systems got started on Monday.
Students at Forest Hill Elementary walked off the bus with smiles on their faces, but some admit they had first day jitters.
“At first I was really nervous, but then I got excited because I saw a lot of new friends and new people,” said fifth grader Alonda Lafitte.
While it was the first day of school for students, it was also the first day for some teachers. Ambria Reed is a new kindergarten teacher at Forest Hill. She’s excited to begin her career in education.
“I call my students the bloomers because daily we’re going to grow,” said Reed. “As we learn we’re going to grow.”
Teachers and students alike now have their first day behind them as they look ahead to what they hope will be an exciting, productive year.
