The family of a boy who jumped into Dog River to save his little brother has identified him as 14-year-old JaMarcus Smith.

The tragedy happened Thursday as the brothers were with a group of kids who were playing on S. Hillwood Drive, which is right off the river.

The boys don’t live on the street, but they were there looking to cut people’s grass to earn money.

Details on funeral arrangements are pending with Heritage Funeral Home in Mobile.
