MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Fallen Mobile Police Officer Justin Billa was honored at the 21st Annual Law Enforcement Prayer Luncheon at Cottage Hill Baptist Church Thursday. Billa was killed last February while responding to a domestic call. At the luncheon, he was recognized as a “Hometown Hero.” His wife Erin tearfully accepted the award in his honor.
“From the officials to everyday citizens, I have felt so much love here. Justin is in a better place than we are here. Thank you for supporting my family,” Erin told the crowd of law enforcement officers, chaplains, and city officials.
Erin hopes Justin’s death will continue to remind people to appreciate the job the men and women in blue do every day. Billa says she and her son, Taylor, miss Justin and she will spend the rest of her life, making sure his sacrifice isn’t forgotten.
Justin Billa’s name will be added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial on May 15th in Washington D.C.
