MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Dearborn YMCA is warning you about a scammer going door to door. The organization says this man asking for donations is not with the Dearborn YMCA.

CEO of the Dearborn YMCA, Colette Huff, says the man claimed he was mowing lawns for donations for the YMCA’s basketball team to go to Atlanta. Huff says the man is lying on both accounts. The Dearborn YMCA does not have an 18-year-old’s basketball league and her organization is not planning any trip to Atlanta.

The man also claims the recent rain stopped him from doing yard work. Several people posting in the Ring Doorbell App said he tried the same thing at their homes over the weekend.

Huff says she’s checked and the man in the video is not a member of the YMCA.

Huff tells us she hopes this man going door to door does not deter people from really donating to her organization. You can donate to the Dearborn YMCA by contacting them HERE.
