Mobile, Ala. (WKRG) — A service today in Mobile will honor Fairhope’s former police chief. A “Black History Sunday” service is happening at 10 Sunday morning at Bethesda Christian Center. It will honor former chief Joseph Petties.
Petties is an elder at the church. An organizer said he commutes from Fairhope regularly to teach Sunday School and services. He also is part of their prayer team and outreach ministry.
Former Mobile Mayor Sam Jones is a featured speaker and Bishop Norman Hutchins from Dover, Deleware is the guest Psalmist. Petties retired from the Fairhope Police Department in the summer of 2018.
