GREENSBORO, Ala. (WKRG) — A bus carrying a group of students from Murphy High School was involved in an accident on their way home from Tuscaloosa Friday.

Rean Philips with the Mobile County Public School System says the students, 27 sophomores and 8 chaperones, were on their way home from the University of Alabama as part of the Murphy University Center.  She says they were there to tour the campus and get their UA ID cards as part of this one-of-a-kind program through which they take college classes at Murphy and earn up to 30 hours of college credit.

Philips says the bus was hit by an SUV near Greensboro.

None of the students were injured. They had to wait for a replacement bus and were playing frisbee while waiting, says Philips. The students have called their parents to tell them what has happened.

The students will be back home tonight.
