ORIGINAL STORY: Police are searching for the suspects accused of beating and robbing an 81-year-old woman in her own home.
The home invasion happened Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. on Pineda Court in Mobile.
Margaret Campbell is in the ICU at University Hospital after her family says her attacker stabbed her in the head and back. Her family told News 5 on Wednesday that she’s doing better.
The family believes other people were waiting outside the home during the attack because they stole Campbell’s SUV and had a getaway car. The suspects also stole her purse and TV.
“It’s kind of a shake up because we’re not used to this kind of violence in this area,” Victor Campbell, the victim’s son tells News 5.
Police recovered Campbell’s SUV and returned it to her home on Wednesday morning.
If arrested, the suspects could face charges of robbery, assault, elder abuse, and theft of property.
Her family also tells News 5 they believe she knows her attacker, since she willingly let them in her home. “You hear it many times, turn yourself in. Let’s hash this out. Maybe we can get help for you,” said Victor Campbell.
