MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office Tweeted Tuesday afternoon saying a bond hearing was held for Ledarrius McMillian, the man charged with the murder of Jamal Chambers, whose arrest was caught on camera inside a Mobile Mexican restaurant.
On December 7th, Jamal Chambers was shot and later died from an incident in the Trinity Gardens area. A funeral service was held Saturday at the Third Baptist Church in Prichard. He was a 30-year-old father who also played semi-pro football for the Mobile Generals.
On January 9th, Prichard Police said 20-year-old Ledarrius McMillian is the man seen running from police through a Mobile Mexican restaurant during lunch. The end of the chase and takedown in the kitchen was captured by restaurant surveillance cameras, but officers say it started inside Prichard city limits. Police say McMillian crashed into two other cars on the service road in front of Yester Oaks shopping center and then hit a curb. That’s when he ran into the Los Rancheros Mexican Restaurant.
A judge set McMillian’s bond at $150,000 with a $7,500 cash component. The Mobile County District Attorney says McMillian’s Preliminary Hearing is set for May 22nd.
