ORIGINAL STORY — The body of a missing boater has been found after a four-day search.

The boat 32-year-old Robert Ellison was riding in hit something in the overnight hours Thursday on the Mobile River near the Barry Steam Plant.

Ellison’s body was found downstream about 14 miles away at the Mobile County River Delta Marina where the sheriff’s office says flotilla units and marine police recovered it.

The sheriff’s office says Ellison, his girlfriend and their dog were in their boat around 1 am Thursday when the boat hit something, throwing all three into the water.

Ellison’s girlfriend, Tasha Wood, and their dog made it to shore, but Ellison did not.

The search was suspended temporarily Thursday afternoon due to bad weather, but resumed Friday morning.

The sheriff’s office is expected to release more information.
