Mobile, Ala (WKRG-TV)–

LifeSouth says blood donors from our area are needed to help supply blood to hospitals where patients are injured from Hurricane Michael. There are several community blood centers in our area. One is on Hillcrest Road in Mobile. There is one on Capital Drive in Daphne.

Here is a news release from LifeSouth:

“LifeSouth needs the help of blood donors after Hurricane Michael to maintain the blood supply at hospitals and communities greatly impacted by the severe storm. There is a significant shortage of type O blood and platelets of all blood types.

Due to school and business closures, LifeSouth experienced a substantial drop in donations. LifeSouth urges the community to visit a donor center or a bloodmobile and donate.

If you do not know your blood type or have never given blood before or donated platelets, now is a perfect time to start. Donors must be at least 17 or 16 with parental permission, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. A photo ID is also required.

For more information or to find a blood drive or donor center near you, call 1-888-795-2707 or visit”
