UPDATE: News 5 has learned that the bikers raised $1,250 for Jessica’s Buddy Walk team and Tony Sawyer, owner of Bob’s, presented her with the check Wednesday.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Motorcycle riders gathered in droves at Bob’s Downtown Diner in Mobile Tuesday night to raise money for Jessica Thompson, an 18-year-old with Down Syndrome.

The owner of the restaurant sold raffle tickets to support her team dubbed “Joyful Jessica’s Buddy Walk”  in an upcoming event in Bienville Square.

“Just awesome. I know bikers are very giving especially with kids.  They pour their hearts out and it overwhelms me,” said Jessica’s mother, Theresa Thompson.

The walk aims to promote awareness and inclusiveness for people with down syndrome.
