MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Autism Society of Alabama is dedicating a Christmas tree in memory of Matthew Cox, a 21-year-old autistic man who was killed in October 2018.

The dedication will take place at USA Children’s and Women’s hospital on December 2nd from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to bring a fire truck related shatterproof ornament for the tree. Family members of Cox say fire trucks were his favorite.

Police say Cox was killed inside the group home where he stayed by Trent Yates, a man who worked at the group home.

The case is headed to a grand jury.
