(AP/WKRG) — Amazon says it will not be building a new headquarters in New York and Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson saw an opportunity on Twitter to open Mobile’s doors.
The online retailer has faced opposition from some New York politicians, who were unhappy with the tax incentives Amazon was promised.
Amazon said Thursday it does not plan to look for another location.
Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson tweeted to the retailer “Hey @Amazon, let’s talk!”
Mobile is the home an Amazon sortation facility that opened in Theodore in 2017. The 350,000-square-foot building was the first customer fulfillment facility in the state.
