UPDATE (8:30pm) — Mobile Police released the name of the girl who was arrested in the stabbing on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. Police have identified her at 16-year-old Destinie’E Rogers. Rogers has been arrested and charged with 1st-degree assault. She is currently in Metro Jail.
MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Mobile Police are investigating a stabbing that happened near Howard Elementary School on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
Mobile Fire-Rescue says a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the chest and back. Mobile Police say officers were called to the scene where they found the boy with multiple stab wounds. Police say he and a 16-year-old girl got into a fight at the Dollar Treat store across the street from the elementary school. During the fight, police say the girl pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the boy multiple times. The boy ran down the street, about a 100 yards, where police say he was found by paramedics.
Officials say the boy was treated and transported to University Hospital with serious injuries.
The girl was taken into police custody and transported to MPD Headquarters.
At this time, police say the stabbing has no connection with Howard Elementary School.
