MOBILE Ala. (WKRG) — A 10-year-old boy is in custody after police say he brought a gun to school.
Police were called to Morningside Elementary School on Thursday, May 9, at about 11:55 a.m. in reference to a student with a gun.
According to the Mobile County Public School System, a student told his teacher that another student had a gun. That teacher then checked the student’s book bag and found an unloaded gun. The student was taken to the office, and school officials called the police.
Upon arrival, the officer was directed by school administration to the student. He was transported to Strickland Youth Center.
MCPSS says the teacher did exactly what she was supposed to, and followed her training and protocol.
No one was hurt.
The student’s name has not been released because he is a juvenile.
