Veterans tell their stories in ‘Veterans Voices’ Monday at 6:30

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – Wkrg News 5 presents ‘Veterans Voices’ in place of our 6:30 pm Newscast Monday, November 12th.

You’ll hear from Gulf Coast veterans like retired U.S. Army Special Forces Colonel Pat Downing.

“Growing up in mobile my heroes were world war two veterans, my dad was a marine in the Pacific in world war two– I had an uncle that was an ambulance driver in the China, Burma, India theater. And so when Dr. Barry booth came back from Prattville after being a guardian on honor flight and asked for volunteers, I jumped at the chance because I wanted to be with those great world war two veterans again…”

A.B. Grantham was an 18-year-old Marine sent to fight in Vietnam. He was shot in the chest during the Battle of Hue in 1968. He’ll soon be reunited with the Doctor who saved his life.

“He told me, he’d never pulled so many lucky strike packs of cigarettes out of anybody’s chest in his life….”

These are just a sample of some of the stories you’ll hear in ‘Veterans Voices’ on WKRG News 5 tonight at 6:30 pm.
