UPDATE: Troopers identify pedestrian struck and killed in Mobile County

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) –

UPDATE (July 18) — Alabama State Troopers have identified the man who was struck and killed in Mobile County over the weekend. 

At around 9:15 p.m. Sunday, Troopers say 62-year-old Billy Elton Smith Jr. from Wilmer was struck and killed by a vehicle going north on Cuss Fork Road between Natchez Trace Road and Coleman Dairy Road. 

Troopers say the vehicle was a 2006 Chevrolet HHR driven by Cory Jackson, 24, of Wilmer. 

Troopers say Jackson remained at the scene and no charges have been filed in connection with the crash. 

Nothing further is available as troopers continue to investigate

ORIGINAL (Sunday, July 15) —  Alabama State Troopers are investigating a deadly wreck involving a pedestrian and vehicle in Mobile County.

It happened around 9:30 tonight (Sunday 7/15) on Cuss Fork Road between Natchez Trace Road and Coleman Dairy Road near Wilmer.

A State Trooper spokesman says the driver of the vehicle stopped, but no names are being released at this time.
