Saban’s assistants to get massive paychecks

TUSCALOOSA, Ala (WKRG) — Nick Saban’s top ten assistants will make almost $7.5 million in 2019. The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees Compensation Committee approved the contracts Wednesday, according to the Tuscaloosa News. 

Below is a list of assistants, their specialty, their 2019 pay, and their 2018 team or school or their 2018 salary for returning coaches.

Additionally, Scott Cochran, Strength & Conditioning Coach will make $595,000. Head Trainer Jeff Allen will be paid $235,000, and Robert Welton, Director of Player Personnel, will be paid $210,000.

By comparison, University President Stuart Bell is paid $650,000 annually and Alabama Governor Kay Ivey makes a salary of $120,000.

In 2017, the Alabama athletics department reported $174.3 million in revenue and $15.6 million in profit, with the football department accounting for $108.2 million in revenue and $45.9 million in profit. 

Head Coach Nick Saban’s contract calls for him to be paid $8.7 million in 2019.
