MOBILE, Ala (WKRG) – Parents are hearing the news of 29 members of the clergy in the Archdiocese of Mobile who’ve been accused of sexual misconduct involving children. The allegations go back to 1950. The list of priests and deacons who have been “credibly accused” since then was released by the archbishop Thursday.
Little Flower Parish is one of the places where multiple accused clergy served. Five men who served there are among the accused. Parents however aren’t worried. They are instead proud of the archdiocese coming forward voluntarily in an effort to fight priest abuse. “They have a procedure in place to keep things types of things from happening now, so that I feel comfortable with my children in school here,” said Bernadette Johnson, a parent at Little Flower Catholic School.
Little Flower and McGill-Toolen were the two locations that had the most accused clergy. In fact three of the men accused served at both places.
