ABERDEEN, Miss. (WJTV) – A small plane crashed while landing at Monroe County Airport in north Mississippi on Friday, according to the Associated Press.

Remarkably, the pilot is said to be uninjured and no one has died from the crash in Aberdeen, but a passenger was taken to an area hospital.

Two years ago, almost to-the-day, a pilot and passenger died after a crash at the same airport.

The people aboard the plane which crashed on Friday have not been identified, although officials told the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal that the passenger is from Hamilton, Alabama.

The Piper PA-28-180 plane crashed in a ditch, east of the runway, just before 6 p.m., according to Monroe County Emergency Management Agency Director Donna Sanderson.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating and the National Transportation Safety Board will determine what caused the accident.
