MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – The Mobile County Public School System is considering two proposed calendars for the 2019-2020 school year and they are asking for input from teachers, staff and parents. The school system posted the proposed calendars on Facebook last week.

Option 1 lists the First Day of School for students as August 8. The last day before Christmas Break would be December 20 and students would not return until January 6.  Option 1 would have students finishing the school year on May 22.

Under Option 2, the First Day of School for students would be a day earlier, on August 7. Christmas Break would begin on the same day as in Option 1, but students would return to class on January 7. If MCPSS selections Option 2, students would finish school on May 20.

Both proposed calendars include a week off for Thanksgiving and Mardi Gras (February 24-28). Both calendars also include an early Spring Break (March 23-27).

The school system is holding hearings for public input today and February 18 at 4 pm in the board room at the Central Office campus.
