A local judge is joining the ranks of the University of Mobile Foundation. In a press release, Presiding District Judge Michelle Thomason says she’s been asked to join the board of directors.

According to the press release, the foundation was dormant for many years but has been revived. Thomason says she’s a graduate of the University, in fact she was part of the last class to graduate when the school was still called Mobile College. “The University of Mobile provided me and other members of my family with a tremendous Christian education, and laid a rock-solid foundation for me to further my eduction in law,” Thomason said in the press release.

Thomason is running for Court of Civil Appeals Judge. She’ll face Alabama Tax Court Judge Christy Olinger Edwards Tuesday in the run-off election for the Republican nomination. The two are vying for a seat now held by Civil Appeals Judge Craig Pittman, who is retiring.
