ALEA corrects details surrounding the fatal crash of a Mobile County senior on Schillinger Road

UPDATE (7:02PM) — ALEA corrected the details pertaining to the crash that killed THS senior, Devinee Rooney.

Here’s the amended press release from ALEA:

 At approximately 5:40 p.m. on Friday, May 22, ALEA Troopers responded to a fatal, crash on Schillinger Road near Tara Drive North in western Mobile County.  Yaderik J Morales Madera, 21, of Mobile was traveling north on Schillinger Road in a 2012 Honda Accord when he collided with a 2003 Honda Accord driven by Devinee Saige Rooney, 18, of Mobile.  Despite using a seatbelt, Rooney was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.  Also involved in the four-vehicle crash was a 2013 Ford F-150 driven by Logan Woodruff, 22, of Mobile and a 2004 Chevrolet Suburban driven by David Odom, 41, of Saraland.  Woodruff and Morales Madera were transported to University Hospital for treatment.  No further information is available as troopers continue to investigate the crash.

UPDATE (2:32PM) — The victim in a four-vehicle fatal crash on Schillinger Road was identified as 18-year-old Devinee Rooney, a senior at Theodore High School.

In a press release from ALEA, Rooney “was hit ‘head-on’ by a northbound vehicle.” The person of that vehicle was transported to U.S.A medical center and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

According to a Facebook group post, a candlelight vigil is to be held for her to highlight her life accomplishments.

The vigil is to start at 7:30 PM Saturday night (tonight) at the Theodore High School Football Stadium.

Troopers say the other drivers involved did not sustain serious injuries.

ALEA continues to investigate this crash. No further information is available at this time.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A fatal accident happened on Schillinger Road at Lantern Way Friday evening, just east of Three Notch Kroner Road.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating.
