IRVINGTON, Ala. (WKRG)- The family of 50-year old Noel Christopher Benson spoke exclusively to News 5 Thursday.

Benson was shot and killed Tuesday night at a home in Jackson County, Mississippi. Deputies arrested and charged Dirk Lambert with his murder. He’s in jail with no bond.

“I didn’t believe it at first. I still am having hard time,” said Benson’s daughter, Kayla Jernigan.

Jernigan was Benson’s only child and a grandfather to her two kids.  “It’s crazy. It just doesn’t seem real. I do miss you know, when we’d go out and eat together and go shopping. He would buy me anything I wanted. he would give anyone anything he ever had. Even if he didn’t have it to give, he would give it.”

When Roseann Wescovich thinks of her brother, she thinks of him fishing, hunting and being her protector. “He’s gone forever and there’s just a lot of pain with that.”
