Suspect in jail, two hurt in early morning shooting

UPDATE 10 am.

News release from MPD: MOBILE, Ala. – At approximately 2:45 a.m. police responded to the Watering Hole located at 5821 Oldshell Rd. in reference to the report of two shot. Upon arrival, officers located two adult male victims in the parking lot suffering from gun shot wounds. Both victims were transported to the hospital with injuries. One victim is listed in critical condition, and the other victim is listed in stable condition. Through the course of the investigation, a male suspect turned himself into police. Paul Baldwin, 23, was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.

23-year-old Paul David Baldwin turned himself into metro jail this morning.

Baldwin was booked just after 8 am Sunday morning. According to jail records, it appears to be the first time he has been booked into Mobile Metro Jail. The incident happened in a shopping center across the street from the University of South Alabama Campus. One large window of a clothing boutique is smashed this morning. A witness told News 5 it was from the shooting early this morning.

ORIGINAL STORY: MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Mobile Police are investigating after a shooting early this morning. According to the Mobile County Crime Map, a shooting was reported before 3 am at 5827 Old Shell Road.

A witness who’s been in contact with News 5 says two people were hurt, at least one was seriously injured. We’ve reached out to Mobile Police and Mobile Fire Rescue and are waiting to hear back.
