MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – Mobile Police are searching for the owner of a briefcase filled with fossils, geodes, and a carving. Photos of the briefcase and its contents were posted on the Nextdoor App.

Investigators say a citizen found the briefcase and turned it over to the police. Detectives say, right now, nothing like this has been reported stolen.

Mobile Police say a detective did their best in describing the items found inside the briefcase. That includes:

  1. Carved head with headdress in what appears to be clay, possibly Native or Meso American
  2. Trilobite fossil
  3. 3 fossilized teeth, possibly shark teeth
  4. What appears to be clamshell fossil imprints
  5. A chunk of Amethyst
  6. What appears to be possibly a fossilized tusk
  7. 3 geodes
  8. A fossil of what appears to be a whole fish
  9. A piece of petrified wood with what is possibly a petrified mushroom on it
  10. A selenite or gypsum desert rose
  11. A fossil with what appears to be two and a half fish
  12. A fossil of what appears to be an intact closed mollusk shell
  13. A polished Ammonite Fossil
