MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – A judge has sentenced Derrick Dearman to die for killing five people in 2016.

Dearman pleaded guilty to the crime last month, but Alabama law still requires a trial. The jury in that trial recommended the death penalty. On Friday, a judge agreed with that recommendation.

Dearman killed five people including a pregnant woman- inside a home in Citronelle in 2016. Prosecutors say Dearman attacked them with an ax while they slept.
