MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – Cherish Lombard makes her official return to the airwaves on WKRG News 5 at 9. Her first newscast is April 25th at 9:00 on The Gulf Coast CW. Cherish will have added responsibilities in the near future, but for now if you want to see her anchor, tune in for the 9pm news. 


MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Cherish Lombard will join WKRG News 5 as an anchor/reporter on April 15, 2019.  The Mobile native returns to the Gulf Coast from Nashville, TN, where she worked as a reporter and evening anchor for WKRN-TV since 2014.

“We are thrilled to add Cherish to the WKRG News 5 team,” said Jesse Grear, WKRG Vice President and General Manager.  “She is an outstanding journalist who has covered stories that made headlines nationwide and has interviewed some of the biggest names in country music in Nashville.  We know local viewers will be glad to see her back on the air on the Gulf Coast.”

“I am so happy to be joining WKRG News 5,” said Lombard. “Being back in the community where I grew up and worked for so many years and getting to raise my family here is an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. WKRG News 5 will be a great fit.”  

Lombard is a graduate of the University of South Alabama.  She worked at WABB-FM in Mobile as co-host of the popular “Matt, Jay and Cherish” morning program.  She joined WALA-TV in 2008 as a general assignment reporter and became the host of WALA’s Studio 10 until moving to Nashville in 2014.  She and her husband have a 7-month old son, three rescue dogs and a rescue cat.
