UPDATE: Saraland man killed in motorcycle crash

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – UPDATE: Mobile Police have identified the person killed in a motorcycle crash Friday night as 24-year-old Robert Sones Jr. of Saraland.

At about 11:33 p.m., police responded to Government Boulevard at Fairway Drive in reference to a traffic crash involving a motorcycle. Police say Sones was travelling east on Government Boulevard at a high rate of speed when another vehicle pulled onto eastbound Government Boulevard from the median at Fairway Drive. The driver of that vehicle did not see the motorcycle until he was on Government Boulevard.

Sones braked heavily and attempted to go around the vehicle, but he lost control of his motorcycle and struck a street sign and light pole.

One person is dead following a motorcycle crash.

The crash happened early Saturday morning near the intersection of Government Boulevard and Fairway Drive.

According to a Mobile Police officer on the scene, one motorcyclist was confirmed to have been killed. That motorcyclist has not yet been identified.

There was no other immediate information available regarding what may have caused the crash.
