(CNN Newsource) — Paris is mourning.
The city’s iconic and beloved Notre Dame Cathedral went up in flames Monday. But the devastation isn’t just being felt in the city of lights. It’s become a global heartbreak.
Cristina Correa Freile sketched a drawing to honor the 800-year-old cathedral. It shows Quasimodo from the Disney version of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” hugging the building.
The Ecuadorian artist has visited Paris twice and says her picture has a simple message: the world is embracing Notre Dame right now.
The full extent of the damage to Notre Dame is not known at this time, but French President Emmanuel Macron has already pledged to rebuild the most visited landmark in Paris.
