A crime spree that lasted ten days and traveled through four states, Blake Fitzgerald and Brittany Harper were dubbed “Bonnie and Clyde” back in 2016. He would be killed in a shootout with police, she survived to face the consequences for the couple’s crimes. Tuesday, she plead guilty to her Alabama crimes and was sentenced.
It started in Missouri and traveled to Alabama, Georgia and ended in Florida. A 10-day crime spree that ended violently on a cold February night in Milton, Florida. “It was clear he was running from the law. It is clear he had committed some serious crimes,” state’s attorney Bill Eddins said at the time.
Blake Fitzgerald was dead, his girlfriend Brittany Harper wounded and taken into custody.
They had crisscrossed four states robbing, carjacking and kidnapping.
In Alabama, it was a Tuscaloosa hotel, where an attendant was taken hostage, a robbery at a fast food restaurant and a home invasion robbery and kidnapping in Vestavia Hills.
Back in Jefferson County Tuesday, Harper pleaded guilty in federal court to all of it and was sentenced to 19 years.
Last year, she pleaded no contest for what the couple did in Florida including robbing a shoe store in Pensacola, breaking into a couple’s home with their two-year-old daughter and a high-speed chase that eventually ended in that gunfire.
Harper faces a 20-year sentence in Florida.
