Biker and his wife killed in crash with a vulture

MEDICINE LODGE, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas Highway Patrol says a biker and his wife re dead after a crash involving a vulutre in Barber County.

It happened around 3 p.m. Saturday northwest of Medicine Lodge along River Road.

The driver, identified as 42-year-old Brandon Husband of Fowler, was headed southeast on River Road when a vulture came out of the north ditch and struck him in the head according to investigators. 

He went off the road into the north ditch, struck a barbed wire fence and overturned.

A passenger on the motorcycle, his wife, 43-year-old Jennifer Husband, was transported to Wesley Medical Center. She also died as the result of injuries. 

According to the highway patrol, neither was wearing a helmet.
