FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) — Imagine walking out into your front yard and seeing a box full of bees. Yes, a box full of bees.

That’s what Monica French and her husband found Wednesday morning, next to a sign reading “Caution, Live Bee Removal.”

“A box that removes bees? Something I’m not really familiar with,” said French. She lives in the Quail Creek subdivision.

Throughout the day, she says the number of bees in and around the box kept multiplying.

News 5 reached out to a few agencies to see who may have dropped the box off. Fairhope Animal Control had no reports of anything like it. Wildlife Solutions said the same thing.

However, Wildlife Solutions offered some insight. They told us it was likely an amateur beekeeper who dropped the box off, in attempts to preserve the bees and take them back to a farm.

Instead of letting the situation bug her, French took the mystery box of bees as a chance to learn and a chance to laugh.

“Oh, I’ll always remember the bee day,” she said.
