Fairhope, Ala. (WKRG) — Family and friends gather later today to pay tribute to a man killed in a standoff with deputies nearly one year ago.  A vigil is being held starting at 6:30 on US Highway 98 in Fairhope honoring the memory of Robert Yates Jr.  Yates died on March 5th of last year.  Authorities say Yates shot at deputies during a standoff over eviction and deputies returned fire killing the man.

“We also welcome anyone to share moments of prayer, song, or fond memories,” said a Facebook event post promoting the gathering
